IN MEMORIAM

Edna Randolph - Randhaven Kennels

A long time breeder of Springers and instrumental
in establishing the Welsh Springer
and the parent Club.

It is with a heavy heart that I report that Edna Randolph passed away on Wednesday evening.  Per her wishes, there is no viewing.  Edna's burial is on Monday at Maple Grove Cemetery in Kew Gardens.  We will be meeting at Robertaccio's Funeral Home in Patchogue at 10:00 to join the funeral procession to the cemetery.

It is so sad when we lose an icon to the sport of purebred dogs, and a major breeder of English Springer Spaniels going back to the 40s...Edna attended the original Morris and Essex shows, won the breed many times at Westminster, and was one of the founders of the Welsh Springer Spaniel Club of of America, helping to establish Welshies in the United States.  She did all this under her kennel name of Randhaven.

When Edna retired the Randhaven Kennels, she dedicated her love of springers to rescue.  Over the years, Edna fostered and adopted dogs that were difficult to place, either for their age, their quirks, or health issues.  She loved these dogs, who touched her heart, as much as she loved the dogs she bred.  There will be many wagging tails to greet Edna as they reunite once again.

Best Regards,
Gail Schuljan
Secretary, ESSCLI

AKC Pet Disaster Program

The WSSCA Board of Directors has donated $4000.00 to the AKC Reunite emergency trailer fund.

The board would like to challenge the WSSCA membership to match that dollar amount in individual donations to help fund a trailer.  The Board feels that while we are mainly interested in one special, loved breed, we have a responsibility to the greater world of dogdom.

As the AKC likes to say, we’re not just about champion dogs, but we’re championing all dogs.
