• The University of Missouri-Columbia maintains a repository for DNA samples from epileptic Welsh springer spaniels for the purposes of conducting research into the genetic causes of the disease.  If you have a Welsh who develops seizures, it is critically important to submit a blood sample from the affected dog, along with samples from its siblings, parents, and any offspring, both normal and affected, if possible.  The more samples from families of affected Welsh springers that can be obtained, the nearer we can come to ending this dreaded disease.  The Missouri lab maintains a web site at http://www.canine-epilepsy.net/ which gives details for submission of blood samples for epilepsy studies.  All sample submission forms, instructions, and an on-line epilepsy survey can be found there.  The site includes instructions for submitting samples from places outside the USA.  Please note that all information is held in strictest confidence.
